Meet Chief Brian Kunce

Hello and welcome to the Boone County Fire Protection District #2 website. My name is Brian Kunce. I was born in Rockford, Illinois and have lived in the area my whole life.

On September 1, 2019, I was sworn in as Fire Chief of the Boone County Fire Protection District #2. I have been in fire service since 1982. April of 2021 marked 39 years in the Fire Service and 20 of those years as a Chief Officer.

One of the best parts about being Boone County’s Fire Chief is working alongside some of the most dedicated, hardworking personnel I know. Our department is a tight knit family helping serve the community of Boone County.

In addition to working as the Boone County Fire Chief, I also work full time as the Deputy Chief of Operations at the Chicago-Rockford International Airport Fire Department.

I’d like to thank our community for their continued support of the Boone County Fire Protection District #2.
